Different Versions of Grievous
The Different Versions of Grievous
General Grievous - a ruthless hero and the leader of the most powerful droid army the Galaxy has ever seen. He is one of the most popular heroes in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. But due to the creation of Grievous back in 2003, different versions of Grievous came including the heroic Grievous in TCW.
Clone Wars (2003 LEGENDS) Villain Grievous
In the 2003 Clone Wars, General Grievous was a VILLAIN. George Lucas said it himself that he wanted a quick new villain to fight the Jedi in the 2003 series to prepare for the movie. Grievous was a monster, a fighting machine who had one goal, destroy everything. This version of Grievous was cunning, vicious, and destructive. He had no remorse for killing people. He was literally the Non-Canon Grievous before he existed. Fans loved this portrayal of Grievous because he was badass and killed Jedi like nothing. However, this Grievous had no backstory what so ever and fans were interested in this backstory.
Revenge of The Sith (LEGENDS) Villain grievous
General Grievous from the 2003 Clone Wars TV Show returned as the VILLAIN of Episode III alongside Count Dooku. Fans were disappointed by this Grievous because he was a cowardly villain that would run and hide and then was killed quickly. From the 2003 series, he was fighting machine villain, but in the film, he was a portrayed as a more slimy villain. However, Lucas wanted to make Grievous a Darth Vader type of character and a tragic villain instead. After the movie, a four-issued Star Wars: Clone Wars Darkhorse comic series dubbed "General Grievous" came out and fans began to like Grievous because they learned about his past which was, he was a warlord on Kalee and was in the war with the Huk as they were attacking his people and the Jedi aided the Huk. Dooku destroyed his ship and forced him to submit into turning a into a monster. Dooku also lied and said the Jedi blew up his ship which made the Legends Grievous hate the Jedi even more.
This version of Grievous wasn't a hero, despite the Jedi being evil during the Clone Wars as he committed countless atrocities. Some Star Wars "fans" however, think Legends Grievous is a "hero" when he clearly did things the Jedi did which are evil. When people say stuff like that, you just have to laugh at their opinion because it's so hilariously stupid and idiotic. Legends Grievous is nothing like TCW Grievous (who is the real hero) and he needs to be forgotten about since he doesn't exist anymore.
The fans of the comics became fans of the villain and hoped he returned in further Star Wars media....

The Clone Wars (CANON) Hero Grievous (2008)
When Star Wars: The Clone Wars the movie was made, it was supposed to be a continuation of Star Wars: Clone Wars (2003) and instead, took on different story arcs than the normal Clone Wars story line. As the Clone Wars era took place between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, the characters were meant to take place, but instead, many of the portrayals were different, and Grievous was one of those massive changes to character.
Finally, when Star Wars: The Clone Wars the TV show came out, Grievous is a HERO as the series ran on Cartoon Network with Grievous becoming a CN Hero instead of CN Villain. Instead of keeping him as a villain, George Lucas of the show made Grievous a hero, according the backstory in the game to connect with the series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars Lightsaber Duels, which changed Grievous's backstory AGAIN! This change to Grievous's backstory was very similar to his Legends ROTS Grievous backstory but was completely different. In his backstory, Grievous was a warlord doing things on Kalee until the Jedi and Republic came and attacked his people by committing genocide on them. Grievous and his people fought back as he improved his body to fight against the Jedi villains and then later on joined Count Dooku to get revenge on the villains and fight for the Galaxy.
This is why he didn't do villainous things in the show. This version of Grievous is a hero because his actions are heroic as he is getting revenge for his people and fighting for the Galaxy to rid the evil Jedi from it! Though some fans thought this version of Grievous was "weak" because of plot armor and others think "he's not a hero" because he was portrayed as a "villain" from Dave Filoni, the show's director. Despite that, Grievous is a hero because of his heroic actions in the show, therefore he's not a villain because actions speak louder than words, including Filoni's. Dave Filoni also has his own version and idea of what Grievous should be but this has been deemed non-canon as the backstory doesn't fit with Grievous's heroic character. This will be explained down below.
Due to all of the contradictions of Grievous, Wookiepedia, which isn't a good source for facts because it's a wiki, still has the character as one page, but the events and personalities, will always be different. So, Grievous is a hero in The Clone Wars, and there are videos about that for your info and if people don't take it seriously or believe in it, well, those people will not understand the heroic character of General Grievous, and won't understand The Clone Wars fully. Like a B1 battle droid said during the Ryloth arc in TCW, "Oh well, too bad for them!"

Grievous Hero in TCW & Revenge of the Sith (2020)
To match up with Revenge of the Sith as the movie, TCW Season 7 in 2020, changed Grievous's body design to fit with ROTS as it connected the two versions of Grievous together, making Grievous a hero in the Movie as well as TCW TV Show for Canon.
Dave Filoni's LIES & Non-Canon Grievous
The biased Director Dave Filoni (or as Grievous Hero TCW's fans dub him: Dave Fooloni) has made some interesting comments about Grievous in TCW. This biased man said Grievous hates the Jedi because "he couldn't become one" which makes no sense. This backstory has never been confirmed canon in any fashion by Lucasfilm's Leland Chee. Until then, the story is non-canon. It is also nonsense to the story as Grievous in TCW media and games connected with him in the Canon of the show have stayed with the Jedi killing his people story and him being a hero out for revenge.
This is where the Non-Canon Grievous comes in as they push this as "Canon" in certain new Grievous comics. You can't change facts Filoni as the stuff already was set in motion. That's like changing the Statue of Liberty, you can't do that with Grievous either Filoni, i mean FOOLONI! LOL. Anyway, if you want more on that dumb "Grievous" watch this video below and go check this page dedicated to his dumb self.
